Year 9 Options Process
The Year 9 options process has begun this term and your child will have the opportunity to choose the GCSE and BTEC courses they will pursue through Years 10 and 11. The options process has been introduced to your child through form time activities and an assembly programme. The assemblies have, and will continue to be taken by Faculty Leaders who will provide an overview of the subjects they offer. In addition, external speakers from Further Education and Business will make up part of the programme. As such, your child may have already started to think about the subjects they would like to pursue and be asking themselves the following questions:
- Which subjects am I passionate about?
- Are these subjects/types of qualification appropriate for my abilities?
- How will these subjects fit in with my future aspirations?
The Year 9 Options Information Evening will take place on Monday 7th December from 4pm. At this Options Evening, all teachers from the option subjects will discuss the GCSE and BTEC choices, which will help you and your child to make informed choices. There will also be the opportunity to have a brief discussion about your child’s current progress if their teacher is present.
Prior to this evening, on Wednesday 25th November, your child’s Year 9 Annual School Report will be posted home.
Options paperwork will be distributed prior to the Options Information Evening to enable you to sit down with your child to study the information together to give you an insight on all the options that are available at Plantsbrook School .
The Options Form must be returned by Wednesday 16th December, to your child’s form tutor. This is a strict final deadline.
